Week 78

1lb gain.

Bollocks.

I had done well most of this past week. Saturday, however, contained a "Chocolate to Die For" cone from the Cream O' Galloway visitor centre, which is damn fine ice cream. That would have been containable, however, as we managed to avoid any kind of spiral in behaviour.

Of course I'd forgotten that it was also my father-in-law's 85th birthday on Sunday, so as well as eating more than usual at dinner, Maggie had made a rather tasty birthday cake and there was enough for seconds...

But the final damage was done yesterday where not only did I meet up with a friend for lunch, but we had a family meal out in the evening too, and I cannot eat out yet without going overboard.

Statistical Significance: it is exactly 18 months since we began this new way of eating.

Starting Weight: 19st 9lb – 275lbs
Current Weight: 13st 5lb – 187lbs
KoTRB Weight Lost : 23lb
Total Weight Loss: 88lbs

It is a lot trickier to maintain when you're eating out a bit. Still though, one pound, not the end of the world.

I think it's amazing that you have this "plan" that works for you and that you have been able to follow for such a long time. You have lost a lot of weight and I imagine the less you weigh the harder it is to shift those pounds without being on a "diet" or doing some proper physical excercise (like the fabulous fatmammycat is doing and recommending), and your main goal was to become more healthy, which I'm sure you are.

Anyway, just wanted to say that I think you're doing great and I wouldn't worry too much if the numbers aren't getting smaller every week, you seem to be on the right path there.

Just remembered, a few weeks ago you were saying something about a gym nearby you were going to check out with Maggie, did you go? Do tell.

FMC - you're right, one pound is not the end of the world. I was hoping to escape with an "even" though.

Merle - Thanks for the support and encouragement. I'm afraid to say that the gym has still not been checked out yet. I have lots of good excuses and even more bad ones. The biggest though is this B12 deficiency thing which is sapping my energy. I'm hoping that once I get on top of that I'll be in a better position to start a higher level of activity.

Kim - I am impressed. I've seen you posting to some of the other participants of "Operation Lose that Ass" with sensible advice as one who's been there. Thank you.

I am looking forward to reading your blog - it sounds like you've come a long way. I still have a long way to go. I didn't get here in a day, won't get back that way either. For me it's one day at a time, doing the best I can. And I realize that some of those days won't be as good as I wanted, but as long as I stay aimed at the right goal, the small wavers in my path won't hurt me.

Thanks for watching out for us!

Those days out are the hardest days to stay on plan! One pound isn't bad, it is just a reminder of the consequences of treat days.

Events always seem to throw me off too, no matter how much I plan for them or try to be good at them....but thankfully they don't happen every day.

I imagine that I'll get better with dealing with them as I get better at managing the normal day to day routine.

Congrats on your long term success....your an inspiration to the rest of us.

Ice cream and birthday cake. Sweets are a downfall for me. I'm impressed that you were able to limit yourself and emerged with just a one point gain. Good progress.

1 pound gain for celebrating life with family and friends sounds like a fair trade.

Sayre - welcome to Losing a Hundredweight and thanks for your warm comments. Hope you enjoy what you read.

TC - true, it could have been worse

Sir Squishy - thank you. The pest part of this is that one day off track can undo 6 days of being on. Sometimes it feels like there's no justice.

Arlene - thanks

Sancho - That's a good way of looking at it :)
