Week 147

1.4lb loss!

Reeling it back in...

I didn't get the chance to post yesterday as I was 120 miles away having an xmas lunch with friends. Which will probably show up next week...

With Feastmas looming, the question is how much I can limit the damage over the next 3 weeks?

Starting Weight: 19st 9lb - 275lbs
Current Weight: 12st 8lb - 176lbs
Body fat: 23.6%
Total Weight Loss: 99lbs

Ah, congratulations! And no doubt about the damage control. I've already started thinking about how I'm going to handle Christmas lunch/dinner/boxing day). I think I'll be okay with limiting portions and stuff. But I'm definitely going to be having some Christmas food :D

Yay! And yes, damage control is the key issue during Feastmas - good luck to us all with that one!

Was wondering where you were... I do always check on Mondays.

FLG - There's no point in denying yourself the xmas food - that's just cruel, however, the thing to do is watch the portions and see if you can balance it out with healthier non-critical meals.

Sayre - It's rare for me to miss the onday post, but time wasn't on my side. Still, it got here eventually :)

Dr Maroon - If I was to attempt that, I would get eaten

Your comment to Dr. Maroon was hilarious. Congrats on getting rid of the lbs. Re. your last post, I clicked on "large slice of cake" expecting to see a photo after which I would no doubt salivate. (Why on earth do I do that to myself.) Instead I glimpsed your post which I will now go back to read. Anyway, merry Feastmas. I'm remembering a comment you made about wishing your weight gains came from your wife's excellent cooking instead of junky foods. I imagine that Feastmas is just such a time.

Just happened upon this your other blog Mr Kim. We are approaching parity in weight terms. Living in Belgium doesn't help - all that chocolate - but recent gob surgery has reduced my intake to soups and soft stuff, mind you a lot of soft stuff has a lot of calories. Mascarpone for example. My only remaining option is to buy an apartment on the third floor with no lift. I don't really do Christmas so that's no worse than any Friday night of the year.

Arlene - it is indeed a time of overflowing goodies baked by my wife. Unfortunately this doesn't help the weight battle in any way...

FMC - thank you

Daphne - welcome to Losing a Hundredweight. Once you've discovered the joy of chocolate bars in a blender, mouth restrictions need never apply again

Congrats on the loss. I am finding that the hardest part is getting in enough fruits and vegetables during Christmas. The fruits are usually buried in tons of sugar and pastries. The vegetables are usually smothered with butter and cheese. I am trying to makes sure that I eat plenty of fruits and veggies along with water just prior to any parties and feasts. I guess I'll see if that helps or not.

The other difficulty I have is finding time to exercise with all the other craziness this time of year.

Half-Man - The simple solution is smoothies. Every morning I create a fruit one which ensures I get a portion or 2 down my throat in a really tasty way.

I usually start with a banana, then a handful of grapes, some frozen berries from the freezer and a large splash of pure orange juice. Whizz it all together and it tastes really good
