I am just back from some fairly heavy lifting at the gym, I believe a lot of folk are finding this week a mite gloomy for some reason, lots of fed up looking folk today I noticed. Low energy sort of period. Don't worry Kim you'll be back and sprightly in no time.
Brr, it's cold here.

I notice that my body is almost always about a week behind. I don't use a scale, so I'm no authority there.

But, when I switch up my workouts by adding difficulty, it takes about a week for the body to really notice. It'll actually be harder the second week than the first.

Just keep going. You'll be fine. :)

George - I always am :)

FMC - It's odd that over Feastmas, we think once it's passed we'll be able to leap back on track. Of course this time of year is one of the worst for finding and maintaining motivation. I have had several good days, or parts of days, but it only takes one blow-out to sabotage. The constant feeling of starting again can be wearing.

Annie - more time of the year, or even time of the day...

Antgirl - I don't use a scale daily, only weekly. However, without it I would have no idea how I was progressing or not. Far too often my feeling just before I step on the scale has been completely wrong about the outcome.

Sorry :( It is wearing to keep trying, but to not keep trying is not an alternative. Doesn't mean it doesn't suck though.

PS - I forgot to add: thanks for the idea about the kilos!

It can definitely be tough going this time of year Kim, wet and windy outside, cold, dark. Bleaugh.

SeaShore - Swapping between pounds, stones, half-stones and kilos is a great way of having a constant supply mini-targets and achievements :)

FMC - Bleaugh indeed. I'm amazed you can get yourself outside to run in this!

Pfft, I've been doing most of my running in the gym. Too miserable for the outside world. But even hauling ass out the door to the gym has been a bit of an uphill struggle. Fortunately I am capable of tricking myself into going.

The tricks and strategies do help :)

At least you're still .4 down...

I find that I can swing wildly depending on many different factors. And I'm not talking a pound or two - I'm talking 5 or more! In the space of a day!

I do find it more difficult to stay the course when it's cold outside (don't laugh - it gets cold here too... the low this morning was 20 degrees!) because the body wants to curl up, make fat stores and hibernate. Ha! Luckily for me, the chill makes ME want to go for a walk. It's the heat that takes it out of me!

I know weight can vary across the day, which is why I always weigh myself at the same time and under the same circumstances each week.

And while I might get a wee bit pissed off if weight has gone on unexpectedly, I am pretty good at watching the trend rather than panicking about the one off reading.
