Looking back I can see that if I'd tried to do what I have a year earlier I would have failed completely.

TC - I agree completely - it has to be a way of life. I'm impressed with your approach and have now linked to your site from my sidebarKim Ayreshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02656677501116622953noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16063987.post-1155487118977385892006-08-13T17:38:00.000+01:002006-08-13T17:38:00.000+01:00Good for you! While it is easier now than it was then, I don't really think it will ever be second nature. I do think that the reason it is working this time is that I refuse to do anything that I couldn't do for the rest of my life. I look at this as a way of life this time.

http://skinniereverafter.blogspot.com/Twisted Cinderellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14273548648344779210noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16063987.post-1155430701865296652006-08-13T01:58:00.000+01:002006-08-13T01:58:00.000+01:00Kim, I'm clapping in Seattle!!I just dropped the d...Kim, I'm clapping in Seattle!!

I just dropped the diet towel myself. Screw the shit about 30 pounds in 30 days or some other such nonesense.

Your introductory blog essay stated EXACXTLY what I've heard every other success story, in person, on paper, online....to lose weight permanently the numbers are a guage, not a goal. The ultimate goal must be to change your life, permanently.

Goddam I was not ready for this fact for the longest time, not until I reached a weight where I'm so uncomfortable I feel as though I'm in someone else's body, and no longer able to run.

Time to change. Permanently. And it's about changing my relationship to food, permanently, not about the latest South Beach whatever or Atkins bladeebla. It's about knowing yourself and changing yourself and taking your life back to be overall more healthy. Pants shcmants, that's literally the icing on the cake.

Personally, I look forward to doing all the things I cannot do right now because I am not at a healthy weight.

CONGRATULATIONS. And thanks for the reinforcements. And you can bet when I'm healthy enough I'll be coming to your side of the pond for some of those amazing, breathtaking hikes available up there in the highlands.Alice in Wonderbreadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16167533114228447455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16063987.post-1155287699706060452006-08-11T10:14:00.000+01:002006-08-11T10:14:00.000+01:00Mama C - welcome to Losing a Hundredweight and tha...Mama C - welcome to Losing a Hundredweight and thanks for taking the time to comment. But like I said, I'm a health nut, so this caters to my taste. Your plan sounds very good, and more importantly, it's working for you. The biggest rule in getting anything done is to do what you enjoy, so you'll stick to it. Congrats again, by the way.Ubergeekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09269608377345719285noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16063987.post-1155218974255451072006-08-10T15:09:00.000+01:002006-08-10T15:09:00.000+01:00In general I don't look too much at detailed break...In general I don't look too much at detailed breakdowns or get involved in counting every calorie, but rely on common sense. We know fruit and veg is good for you, processed foods aren't, and I try to keep my dairy products and wheat to a minimum - these are the basic rules if you like.

However, the site you mention does look very interesting and I appreciate you pointing to it.Kim Ayreshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02656677501116622953noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16063987.post-1155165410804993062006-08-10T00:16:00.000+01:002006-08-10T00:16:00.000+01:00Congrats!
