The aftershocks of Feastmas might be felt for a few weeks yet.

Sayre - it's true that these days I feel uncomfortable at a lower level that before, but my tolerence levels have increased over the past 2 weeks

Freakazojd - welcome to Losing A Hundredweight!

Yes I did eat more salty foods, but to be honest the real problem lies in the sugary and fatty foods I consumed in much larger quantities.

It's not water retention, it's straight-forward gluttony, but I appreciate your positive view of me :)Kim Ayreshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02656677501116622953noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16063987.post-1168008512013535692007-01-05T14:48:00.000+00:002007-01-05T14:48:00.000+00:00I wonder, did you eat a lot of salty foods over th...I wonder, did you eat a lot of salty foods over the holiday? That can result in water retention which would add to that overall weight gain. It might not actually be as accurate a number as you think, and may not take too long to be rid of those pounds again once you've returned to eating normally. Keep your eyes on the big picture: you've done splendidly, and you know you can do this. I may not know you, but I sure am proud of you!
Hope you enjoyed your holiday!Freakazojdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08059402583495865454noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16063987.post-1167690557965660762007-01-01T22:29:00.000+00:002007-01-01T22:29:00.000+00:00I feel your pain - today was to be the first day o...I feel your pain - today was to be the first day of my post-holiday regimen. I agreed to help my cousin move house and we finished off the day at a barbecue place. Not as horrible as I used to be, but I ate more than I am comfortable with (which is a lot less than it used to be).

I shall start again tomorrow.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16063987.post-1167679683663135372007-01-01T19:28:00.000+00:002007-01-01T19:28:00.000+00:00Have you ever really looked at Gillian McKeith? She is not exactly a good advert for healthy eating.
Anyway, tiresome as it might be, this time next week you'll be back in the saddle, so to speak.
Now, where did I put that glass of wine...fatmammycathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12307960277363243051noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16063987.post-1167678335696426382007-01-01T19:05:00.000+00:002007-01-01T19:05:00.000+00:00Thanks Sir SemisolidThanks Sir SemisolidKim Ayreshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02656677501116622953noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16063987.post-1167673816381608702007-01-01T17:50:00.000+00:002007-01-01T17:50:00.000+00:00Don't sweat it Kim.If you don't gain weight during...Don't sweat it Kim.

If you don't gain weight during the holidays, then you aren't enjoying
the season.

Heck I think I put on at least 6 pounds.

Anyway Happy New Year!Sancho Pawnzahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09568134805376131952noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16063987.post-1167671094446832512007-01-01T17:04:00.000+00:002007-01-01T17:04:00.000+00:00There are 2 things going on here, FMC. One is the ...There are 2 things going on here, FMC.

One is the obscenely unfair equation that says for each day of overeating it will take a minimum of a week of eating like Gillian McKeith to counteract it.

But the second, which is the worst part of it, is the reactivation of pathways in the brain which make it incredibly easy to justify having the extra helpings and snacks. I can be soooo convincing to myself that it's extremely difficult to understand that I am in fact lying to myself.

At least these days I know what I'm up against. In the days that I didn't know that I could lie convincingly to myself, it was impossible to work out all the reasons I was over-eating so much.Kim Ayreshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02656677501116622953noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16063987.post-1167669876376067942007-01-01T16:44:00.000+00:002007-01-01T16:44:00.000+00:00I was just on the phone to my yoga buddy, and she ...I was just on the phone to my yoga buddy, and she is claiming she now has two stomachs after the christmas period. I myself am feeling portly, and Claire my kickboxing partner claims she has put on half a stone in two weeks. So don't be too hard on yourself old boy.
