Knights of the Round Bottoms

After searching for weight loss blogs that seemed supportive, informative and light hearted, and getting absolutely nowhere (see Weight Loss Blogs), I was rather surprised to be invited to join the Knights of the Round Bottoms – a small group people dedicated to shifting a few pounds and keeping the comments going as they do so.

The group so far seems to consist mainly, though not exclusively, of middle-aged, overweight men, so I should slot in fine. Their links are now over on the right.

I weighed myself this morning (it’s usually a weekly procedure) and was pleased to see I’m still heading in the right direction. I’m now exactly 15 stone, or 210 pounds, which means I have lost a total of 65 pounds since February.

Welcome to the Knights! Or maybe you should welcome us, since you're longer (a)round. Impressive figures you show. Not only before, I mean:)

Welcome aboard. One thing I didn't see here or in Ramblings of the Bearded One was what got you going to make all the changes in your life in the past year. Just kinda curious.

Ah, 'tis a long tale of loss, depression, midlife crisis and a quest for something more.

Eventually it will probably all come out in the blogs, but it's not easy to sum up in a comment's reply.

But the summary is basically that over a period of time I became intensely aware that life is too short and can be whisked away without a moment's notice. We know this intellectually, but I began to feel it emotionally. So my wife and I started to envisage a better life, a life that we would really like to lead. Then it was just a case of figuring out how to get from there to here.

I just read your post about baggy clothes and was alarmed to read about you considering a career as a clowan. Before you do, may I suggest you read this, The Night of Terror over at Bogol. He is something of an expert on this and many other things.

Scary indeed Dr Maroon, and not more than a little bit difficult to follow...

Thanks for dropping by. Glad your title bar seems to have worked. I used to be a web designer, so if you need any more advice or pointers then don't hesitate to give me a shout
