2.2lb gain
That's me back over the 13 stone mark by 0.4lbs, which means I'm roughly half a stone heavier than a month ago.
However, I'd swear I’ve eaten more this past week than I did in the week surrounding Feastmas.
You see apart from Feastmas Day itself, I was actually a bit conscious of what I was eating. Sure I was eating too much of the tasty stuff but I would, on occasion, hold back a bit.
But this week we have a fridge, 2 freezers and several cupboards full of goodies that didn’t get eaten because we didn’t have 40,000 people over for Christmas Dinner.
Of course we can’t possibly let that food go to waste, but we also know it will be a major temptation so long as it remains. Therefore, the logic goes, the sooner we’ve eaten it all, the sooner we can get back to a healthier lifestyle.
I know there’s a flaw in the logic somewhere, but the drive not to throw out good food overrides all other considerations.
Contrary to the old cliché, you can in fact have too much of a good thing.
However, I'm not going to beat myself up about this. I know that our healthy eating system works. Unless there's another major crisis (or 6) then we should be able to get back on top of this, as we have for nearly 3 years now.

hah! I believe that was the same logic I used with the hooch before my 2 month dry. 'Why yes, I should drink all the rum before I start my detox, no point having it hanging around the house now is there.'
It does work though, week 2 is here and I'm still sitting cheerily on the wagon.
It is a very convincing piece of logic, for certain.
But congratulations on your hoochlessness.
Are you going to start a blog called "Losing 75cl"?
I know that logic quite well. Interestingly, I have learned that if I don't throw the food away and make myself wait 2-3 weeks, it either goes bad or loses its appeal. OTOH, as you say, the sooner it's eaten, the sooner I can eat healthy, lol
Christ no, one blog is bad enough. I wonder do livers regenerate?
Half Man - ah, but how do you make yourself wait 2-3 weeks?
FMC - I've heard they can if given the opportunity
Oh my goodness, I have used that very same logic many times. This time, I opted instead to throw out a whole bag of cookies. I would have given it to charity, but we'd already opened it while guests were over and it was partially devoured. I don't think I'll start a new blog devoted to losing weight, but I have started down the road. So far I'm a little tempermental, but excited. And determined. And perhaps most importantly, organized. :)
To counter the very powerful logic of this argument, we have to come at it from a different direction. We need to understand that food we don't need - especially food that is not good for us - is waste, or garbage (assuming it can't be recycled, as you say). Therefore it needs to be placed in the bin. And we shouldn't be using our bodies as a bin.
Wishing you all the best on your journey :)
