Well, that's nothing like as bad as I was expecting, which leads me to suspect some of this past weekend's indulgences are going to catch up with me on the next weigh-in.

I've been on track all week, but I wasn't expecting a loss that big.

However, the gain was higher than I was expecting last week, so perhaps that was a blip included in it (or this is a blip and I'll be higher next week). I suspect my actual loss is probably more like one and a half to two pounds

OK, so it was my son's birthday last week, but even that shouldn't have accounted for 2lbs. Sigh... it seems I'm steadily creeping upwards. I'm now nearly 14lbs heavier than my lightest last year, and I've dropped back under the 100lb weight-loss mark.

Still not really sure what I'm doing wrong. As things stand at the moment there's little I can do to change my diet, and because of the CFS I cannot increase my activity levels. So it looks like it's just slowly creeping back up.

Which is intensely annoying as I'm not even eating cakes, bakes or other super tasty stuff I crave.

Week 319

Accumulated gain - 1lb

Last week I wasn't around on Monday, having been away for the weekend. However, on Tuesday I weighed in at 175lbs - a 3.2lb gain on the previous week.

It didn't make sense and I decided to just see what this week said instead.

Sure enough I seem to have dropped over 2lbs since last week - which again seems unlikely.

The 1lb up from 2 weeks ago seems about right, so I think last week's reading was just a blip and can be safely ignored.

Week 314

1lb gain.

Well with my daughter's birthday last week, and the fact my wife and I managed a surprise short weekend away together, so that meant a meal out on Saturday and popcorn at the cinema, then I have to feel quite fortunate that it was only a 1lb gain.

But, apart from those things, I was completely on track all week. I seem to have reached a point where I am containing any extra eating - it's not triggering a series of binges. The following day - even the following meal - I'm back on track again.

Week 313 - 6 years

0.4lb loss.

To be honest, I was hoping for a bit more. I've been completely on track this week, and given the recent gains I thought a good week would make more of an indent.

Another reason for hoping for a greater loss was today is my daughter's birthday - this has meant a birthday dinner with lots of treats and a birthday cake - which is all going to show up in next week's figures, even if I stay completely on track again.

Meanwhile, perhaps I should mention that tomorrow (15th Feb) marks the 6th anniversary since we made the shift to focusing on healthy eating. Although I'm not actually that much lighter than I was 4 years ago

Most of the weight was lost in the first year, with most of the rest lost in the second. Since then it has crept up and down, rising to 26lbs more than I currently am, about 18 months ago, but also falling to around 8lbs lighter than I am now, back in late Autumn.

What is clear with all this, is that this is a lifetime thing. I will not reach the end. I will not reach a point where that will be it, I can just take my eye off the ball and just eat without monitoring.

Left without checking, my weight starts creeping up. Hell, it's been creeping up now, even though I am checking. But without the weekly excuses stats I put on this blog, I know it would be a lot worse.
